Priya was born in India and completed her secondary education at St. Paul’s Convent School in Hong Kong. She is currently a sophomore majoring in Global Business at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Her passion for business studies was developed through community visits to social enterprises during her secondary school life and she believes that businesses have the power to shape modern society and to empower the underprivileged. Priya actively takes parts in social innovation competitions, bringing local and international social issues to light. She recently competed in the Global Enterprise Experience 2017 proposing a social business plan to confront the refugee crisis and was among the Top 12 out of a hundred international teams.
Priya is very passionate about child education and embarked on an inspiring service learning trip to Cambodia during winter in 2016. Having co-organized educative teaching sessions for underprivileged children at three different NGOs in Cambodia, Priya discovered her own strengths and her role in society. She believes that helping even in the smallest ways can initiate big changes, so she voluntarily tutors and mentors underprivileged children in India during her visits. Inspired by her own experience in developing countries and the vision of The D. H. Chen Foundation, Priya aspires to fund a child’s full education upon her graduation.
