Music has long been an important part of Paco’s life, shaping how he approaches both challenges and opportunities. Through sustained training in erhu, piano and singing, he has learnt the value of discipline, patience and continuous improvement. Performing with others has also taught him that individual strengths can have their greatest impact when they contribute to a shared purpose.
Paco has carried these lessons into his academic and extracurricular pursuits. With an interest in applying business thinking to complex challenges, he has undertaken consulting projects with 180 Degrees Consulting and Cambridge Consulting Network, working across areas including volunteer engagement, digital strategy, donor development, customer experience and growth. These experiences strengthened his ability to consider different perspectives, navigate ambiguity and translate analysis into practical recommendations.
He has also challenged himself through business case competitions, earning First Runner-up in the Deloitte USHINE Case Competition and Second Runner-up in the HKU-Nestlé Joint University Case Competition. These experiences developed his confidence in working under pressure, collaborating with diverse teammates and communicating ideas clearly.
For Paco, The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Programme offers an opportunity to explore how his interests in strategy, finance and leadership can contribute to the wider good.
Through learning alongside mentors and fellow Scholars, he hopes to broaden his perspectives and grow into a thoughtful business leader who combines sound commercial judgement with a genuine commitment to creating meaningful value and responsible change navigation for organisations, communities and society.
