Michelle’s dedication to classical music gave her early lessons in discipline, focus and empathy. Organising music tours, directing showcases and performing in ensembles taught her the value of active listening and collaboration. She carried these values into community service, leading outreach initiatives with local charitable organisations and working directly with underserved families. These experiences strengthened her belief that individual capability finds its highest purpose when it is used to uplift others.

Seeking to translate this conviction into meaningful impact, Michelle pursued training in business advisory and legal practice. Her exposure in corporate governance, commercial transactions and cross-border restructurings sharpened her analytical skills and deepened her understanding of how commercial objectives, regulatory responsibilities and strategic considerations intersect. Her casework also reaffirmed her belief that legal practice should be grounded in integrity, and that commercial law can play an important role in building and upholding public trust.

Michelle aspires to become a versatile and compassionate legal professional who brings together commercial insight and social purpose. Alongside her legal career, she intends to expand access to justice through pro bono advocacy for underserved communities.

Michelle hopes that her experience in The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Programme will challenge her to connect commercial insight more deliberately with integrity and service. By learning across disciplines as a Scholar of The D. H. Chen Foundation, she aims to develop into a compassionate legal professional who creates value for organisations, expands access to justice and contributes to a more inclusive society.
