Raised in a grassroots community, Kayley witnessed firsthand the struggles of the underprivileged – limited resources and unfulfilled aspirations. These experiences inspired her commitment to dismantling social inequalities, guided by the belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive. Empowered by the compassion of social workers who supported her, Kayley is determined to pay forward their kindness by empowering youth to overcome barriers and realise their full potential.
As a member of her university’s Taekwondo Team, Kayley cultivated resilience and lasting bonds with teammates who share her dedication. Her active engagement in university life – organising lively market activities and facilitating the S. H. Ho Orientation Camp – reflects her passion for fostering community and nurturing belonging.
Beyond campus, Kayley contributes to research projects focused on youth welfare, including the JC LevelMind initiatives and studies examining the impact of internet addiction on adolescents’ mental health. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the complex challenges facing young people today.
Guided by a human-centred approach, Kayley advocates for accessible opportunities by listening, guiding, and connecting youth to essential resources. With the support of The D. H. Chen Scholarship Programme’s Social Good Fund, she hopes to inspire a generation to pursue their dreams with confidence, just as she was once empowered to do. Ultimately she strives to build a more inclusive society where every individual’s potential can truly flourish.
