Karson’s dedication to biomedical science was inspired by witnessing its transformative power through his father’s experience with Parkinson’s disease. His compassion, shaped by caregiving, was further deepened through volunteer work teaching and mentoring underprivileged children. These experiences motivated him to channel his scientific passion towards creating meaningful social impact.
This personal journey shaped Karson’s aspiration to become a research scientist at the forefront of medicine, driven by a mission to translate scientific discoveries into tangible hope and improved quality of life for patients. Through academic challenges and community engagement, he has developed the resilience and systematic mindset needed to master complex scientific concepts.
Karson is also dedicated to combat health misinformation. He seeks to serve as a public educator by raising awareness of neurological disorders, leading outreach programmes, and building supportive networks for patients and caregivers, fostering a community of shared understanding and healing.
As a Scholar of The D. H. Chen Foundation, Karson looks forward to collaborating with fellow Scholars and mentors refine his skills. With the Foundation’s support, he is determined to grow into a compassionate leader who bridges innovative research with empathetic patient care, contributing to a more inclusive and forward-looking healthcare landscape in Hong Kong.
