Inspired by Aristotle’s quote “What is the essence of life? To serve others and to do good,” Gladys dedicates herself to becoming a professional speech therapist who cares about people with communication and swallowing issues, and is eager to raise public awareness towards their difficulties.
During Gladys’s secondary school life, she served at the Hong Kong Red Cross and the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong. The experience of organizing various community service projects had propelled her to build a more harmonious and understanding society. With the eagerness to serve and advocate, Gladys is currently a volunteer at Aphasia Hong Kong and a committee member of Speechians’ Action to support those suffering from speech disorders.
With the support of the Scholarship Program, Gladys hopes to reduce the stigma of people with communication and swallowing difficulties in society and co-create a respectful community with other talented scholars and mentors.
