David Wong

Laws (LLB), HKU

David obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Hong Kong. He was the graduation speaker for the Class of 2023 law cohort at the 210th Congregation. He then read a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at Oxford, and a Master of Laws (LLM) at Harvard University.

Outside of his studies, he actively participates in community service, including his initiation of the UNESCO E-Learning Summer Course. Being inspired by reading Dickens’ novels on legal inequality, he hopes that by highlighting the novels’ social issues and the beauty of the English language to the underprivileged children, they will also be inspired to embark on their meaningful careers.

He also played an active role in the “Free Legal Advice Scheme on HKU Campus” as part of the Clinical Legal Education stream, providing pro bono legal assistance to the underprivileged. He has been keen to give back whenever possible, including by being the President of the English Debate Society and Team Coach of the HKU Foreign Direct Investment Arbitration Moot.

As a secondary school student, David was part of a service group that has built a sanitation system for children in Chiang Rai, Thailand, and co-founded the Inter-School Model United Nations Hong Kong in collaboration with UNESCO Hong Kong Association to raise awareness amongst local students on global issues when he was a secondary school student.

Outside of his academic studies, David plays football, and takes part in various debate and mooting competitions.
