Christy Chong

Finance, HKUST

Christy is passionate about harnessing finance and public policy to drive social change. Her commitment to community advocacy began in secondary school through her participation in the Smoke Free Elite Team, a programme organised by the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health. There, she launched campus campaigns that successfully promoted a smoke-free environment and secured anti-smoking pledges from 98% of her peers.

This early achievement sparked Christy’s interest in the impact of effective advocacy on broader societal issues, particularly financial scams targeting vulnerable groups such as the elderly. She now aims to improve financial literacy so as to develop educational initiatives that protect community members and safeguard their hard-earned savings.

Christy is committed to transforming this learning into action, developing strategies that foster a safer and more secure society for all. With the support of The D. H. Chen Foundation, Christy is eager to deepen her academic expertise in finance and economics, recognising that robust policy is built on sound financial principles. She looks forward to broadening her global perspective through exchange programmes and collaborating with like-minded peers and mentors.
