Anson Yip

Occupational Therapy, PolyU

Currently studying Occupational Therapy at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Anson is driven by a fervent interest in wellbeing and social empowerment. Her journey in youth mental health advocacy began in high school, where she served as a house representative on the Wellbeing Council and proposed initiatives to strengthen schoolwide wellbeing policies.

Building on her previous studies in Social and Cultural Anthropology, Anson realised how empowerment is deeply connected to broader social structures. Adopting a multidimensional approach to change, she worked as one of the student advisors for the development of the International Baccalaureate’s System Transformation Pathway, collaborating with international peers and experts to reimagine education. Her contributions helped shape a new pathway designed to cultivate future leaders committed to justice and sustainability.

As she advances in her training as an occupational therapist, Anson continues to advocate for wellbeing across cultures. She participated in a professional exchange programme in Mongolia, attending the Third Mongolian Occupational Therapy International Congress. Her experiences also include hospital visits, student fieldwork, and cross-cultural dialogues to promote awareness of occupational therapy in underserved communities.

Now serving as an Occupational Therapy Student Ambassador, Anson promotes the use of meaningful occupations both as a method and a goal for enhancing wellbeing. She remains committed to empowering young people to navigate their futures with purpose, resilience, and self-awareness. Through her work, she strives to bridge personal growth with collective transformation, inspiring more youths to find meaning in their lives and become agents of change.
