Amme Woo

Global Business, CityU

Amme’s dream is to start her own art studio social enterprise, with the dual mission of holding charitable community art projects to support older adults experiencing social isolation and mental health challenges. Towards this end, she is actively gaining experience and knowledge in art and business to realize and sustain her dream.

Since she was six, she has attended numerous art lessons, competitions and programs. From 2019 to 2021, she was an active participant in the Jockey Club YouthCreate Series: HKFYG ‘Art Empowering Life’ programme, where she organised many community art projects of making co-created artworks and public space beautification with the Shau Kei Wan community. She won the Gold Award in the Youth Section for the Draw My Watch Watch Dial Design Competition 2021.  Also, she just completed an event-planning internship at Shanghai Tiansheng Expo Co,. Ltd.

Amme’s journey, marked by her father’s battle with depression stemming from a severe illness and disability, served as a catalyst that merged her lifelong passion for art with her keen interest in business. The power of creating artwork together with her father, which aided her father’s recovery, ignited a deep-rooted commitment within Amme to support elderly facing social isolation and mental health challenges through the medium of art.

Inspired by the experience with her father and the elderly she served, Amme is dedicated to her dream of starting an art studio social enterprise dedicated to addressing elderly mental health and social isolation. Being a Scholar will go a long way to helping Amme realize her goals.
