Alison’s passion for neuroscience stems from her personal experience with her grandfather’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease. This journey inspired her to pursue a career in biomedical sciences, fueling her desire to understand the brain and translate scientific discoveries into real-world applications particularly for public health.
Alison is also committed to promoting primary healthcare. In her freshman year, she took on the role of Community Centre Department Head for the Health Committee at the Medical Society, The University of Hong Kong. In this capacity, she organized health talks and counselling sessions focused on preventive care and education, empowering local communities to take charge of their health. These initiatives solidified her belief in the transformative power of public health outreach.
Guided by the principle that “Aging and death are immutable facts of life, but how we live until our last day is not”, Alison is determined to contribute to better healthcare outcomes, especially for those affected by neurodegenerative diseases. She is committed to focusing on prevention, early intervention, and innovative treatments to enhance both longevity and quality of life.
With a long-term goal of bridging the gap between research and practical healthcare, Alison aims to elevate wellbeing globally, particularly in underserved communities, while inspiring and mentoring the next generation of young scientists.
