Alison believes in the power of passion transformed into purposeful actions. A lifelong engagement with sports, particularly swimming, has significantly shaped her journey. Swimming pools were her early classrooms for learning resilience, where she discovered that the cycle of challenge, perseverance, and achievement mirrors life itself. After a period away from swimming and temporary loss of confidence, returning to the water reaffirmed her belief that physical challenges can build mental strength.

This realisation continues to drive her to explore new athletic pursuits and, most importantly, to share this positivity mindset with others. She is deeply committed to uplifting her community, whereby she volunteers at a school for children with learning difficulties in Guildford, UK, and supports younger students living away from home as an academic and wellbeing guide.

Beyond her extracurricular passions, Alison is intellectually drawn to the analytical frameworks of her university major in Global Business. She aspires to apply this perspective to solving complex problems within organisations and the broader economy, with a long-term goal of establishing an enterprise dedicated to advancing social good.

Through The D.H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Programme, Alison hopes to learn from a community of inspiring mentors and passionate scholars. She is eager to collaborate on initiatives that translate personal passion into meaningful action, particularly through sports-based mentorship initiatives. Ultimately, Alison aspires to build lasting relationships within the Foundation community and encourage more young people to engage in purposeful social work.
