Mental health challenges did not tarnish Alice’s dream to return to university to pursue her second degree. Her aspiration is to accompany those suffering from mental health issues through their recovery journey using her professional knowledge in Psychology. She believes that companionship is vital for people to undergo suffering — mental health challenges.
Alice has been serving as a volunteer counsellor at OpenUp Jockey Club Online Youth Emotional Support since 2019. She provides emotional support and suicidal crisis interventions through text-based counseling. Being sensitive to clients’ needs, Alice is keen on encouraging them to utilize their inner strengths and external resources to cope with life stress.
Other than clinical support, Alice also advocates inclusion and diversity on campus. Internally taking up the role as a team leader of CUHK uShine SEN Service Team, she organizes programs that provide students with an understanding of the nature of special educational needs (SEN) and foster mutual support among students. As a leader, Alice prioritizes trust, care, and autonomy. She motivates her members to voice their opinions and explore their capabilities through delegated responsibilities.
With the support from the Scholarship, Alice is looking forward to exchanging her thoughts with other enthusiastic Scholars and mentors. She aspires to realize her innovative ideas that could foster social and emotional learning in Hong Kong.
