Ruby is currently studying Government and Laws at The University of Hong Kong. Regarding herself as a self-motivating and thoughtful person, she cherishes and strikes a balance between her academic pursuits and various exposures.

Ruby was once the captain of the English Debating Team of her alma mater and is now the team’s coach. Debating nurtures her awareness of social issues by providing her opportunities to touch on various local and international affairs. She often reflects on issues of social stratification and inequality and would like to make changes.

Since high school, Ruby had actively participated in student-led bodies namely Kowloon Region Outstanding Students’ Association and Sham Shui Po Outstanding Students’ Association, where she was able to organize volunteer work as well as assist in organizing elections. In addition, she and her teammates were the finalists of the social entrepreneurship competitions organized by the Lo Kwee Seong Foundation, an opportunity for her to understand more about the operation of social enterprises through visits and interviews. In 2021, she participated in the Peace Fellowship Programme, in which she engaged in building community.

Her ultimate aspiration is to establish an NGO to bail the underprivileged in society out of their difficulties. With this aspiration in mind, Ruby felt thankful to join The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Program. She hopes to collaborate with like-minded peers to achieve the goal as she believes “teamwork makes the dream work”.
